Institutional response
Commission connects its monitoring work to Recommendation 5
Responding institution: European Commission
The Commission’s panel page names Recommendation 5 when describing Member State monitoring and its EU Food System Monitoring Dashboard. The page gives no date for this recommendation-specific statement and does not say that every request for detailed causal food-waste data has been met.
What happened next
JRC publishes an EU food-system monitoring dashboard
The Joint Research Centre launched its EU Food System Monitoring Dashboard. The Commission later connects it to Recommendation 5. It monitors broad environmental, economic and social indicators; its publication does not prove that all data collection requested by the panel has been implemented.
Documented evidence
What remains unresolved
The Commission links the JRC dashboard to Recommendation 5, and JRC documents the dashboard launch. This does not establish that the requested data on how, where, who, why and when food waste occurs are collected, that Member States assess their prevention measures, or that food waste has fallen as a result.
